We have received many positive comments on the January 9thpremiere of BIO’s MICAH 2021 awards, coming as a result of many dedicated individuals pulling together to overcome ever-changing obstacles as they presented themselves. For each of you, we are most grateful for the role you played, with an amazing result! Team members who were available met (hybrid) on Wednesday, January 19th ostensibly to plan for a celebratory gathering, which would include debriefing and evaluating what was done well, and what could be improved. Concerns about continually emerging COVID variants has caused us to postpone the celebratory aspect until it is safer to gather.
Debriefing and evaluating, however, cannot be postponed. We must do this while memories are fresh, along with the hope of returning to a MICAH 2022 celebration on or near our usual date of late October. Some creative ideas which would incorporate elements of the 2021 virtual celebration with an in-person component were mentioned.
Ongoing uses for the 2021 MICAH video include potential broadcast (minus the donation pitches) on PCTV and “Real to Reel,” a magazine-style Catholic Communications program on WWLP on Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. & repeated on PCTV on Sundays. The video can also be segmented for member groups to post on their websites or include links in printed bulletins/newsletters. To increase the reach of BIO, an interview with Bill Sturgeon on “Morning Drive” (simulcast on PCTV and WTBR-FM) is scheduled for March 10th.
In addition to “what was done well, and what could be improved,” topics to discuss in a debriefing/evaluation include publicity (cover as many areas as possible using available traditional and social media), registration (incorporating registrants by cash or check with the online system), advertising (camera ready vs. those requiring design), computer interface, goals (qualitative & quantitative), among others.
